M&Ms - Nursery/KindergartenThe sixth week of camp was tons of fun in Nursery/Kindergarten. On Tuesday, we went to a puppet show where we heard different stories like The Ugly Duckling and The Princess and the Frog. It was very enjoyable and laughable for the campers. On Wednesday, we had delicious hamburgers at the BBQ, along with running around in the park. This was such a great week! Pixy Stix - 6/7 GirlsThis was another great week at camp for the Pixy Stix! We started off the week with lots of fun splashing in the pool on Monday, and we all had a great time watching the puppet show at Puppet Works on Tuesday! Of course, we all had fun playing at Valley Stream on Wednesday and back at camp on Thursday and Friday. We are looking forward to another great week at Hillcrest! Hershey Misses - 8/9 GirlsOn Monday, we went back to Jones Beach Pool, where the girls had fun in the sun and swan all day. On Tuesday, we stayed back at camp and enjoyed periods with the specialists, and on Wednesday, we played sports like soccer, volleyball, basketball, and kickball at the BBQ. On Thursday, we had a great time at Ultimate Gaga, and on Friday, we had another fun day in camp. We all can't wait for Color War to start next week! Chiclets - 10/11 GirlsThis week, everyone had a blast at Jones Beach Pool, which was very exciting and fun. On Wednesday, although it looked like the BBQ might be rained out, the weather held out and everyone had a great time as usual. The best part of the week was our trip to Ultimate Gaga, where we all showed off our competitive side and had a lot of fun! Speaking of our competitive sides, we can't wait for Color War next week! SwimThis week, Brandon's group went back to the basics of freestyle. The group continued to use a kickboard, and man of them progressed since they first joined his group. He has been seeing a lot of improvement, and hopefully next week, the group will advance to their next stroke-backstroke. Jewish Culture & CookingThis week in Jewish Culture, the groups learned about Shabbat and all of its customs. Each group got to make kiddush cups (Shabbat wine glasses) with plastic cups and tissue paper. In cooking, we made cookie cutter pizzas by cutting tortilla wraps into shapes, and adding sauce and cheese. We made delicious star, heart, dinosaur, and other shaped pizzas! | Junior Mints - 6/7 BoysOn Monday, the Junior Mints had a lot of fun in the pool and in Teen Lounge. On Tuesday, we went to Puppet Works and the kids enjoyed the show so much! All the campers loved the playground and playing soccer on Wednesday at Valley Stream, and we had a lot of fun at camp on Thursday and Friday. We can't wait for Color War next week! Hot Tamales - 8/9 BoysWe started this week out with a fun and refreshing trip to Jones Beach Pool. On Wednesday, the campers had fun playing soccer, basketball, and other sports at the BBQ, and on Thursday, we went to Ultimate Gaga where the campers and staff had fun playing what is essentially Israeli dodgeball. All in all, it was a fun week for the 8/9 Boys, who are so excited for Color War! Nerds - 10/11 BoysThis week was very fun. We went to Jones Beach Pool on Monday, where we had a blast splashing and swimming in the pool. After a great BBQ on Wednesday, we went to Ultimate Gaga! The fun we had in the gaga pit made it one of our favorite trips of the summer! Friday was another great day at camp, and we are all very much excited about the start of Color War on Monday! Jolly Ranchers - TweensThis week, the Tweens went to Jones Beach Pool, which was very refreshing, and we all also had a great time at Ultimate Gaga! Many of the Tweens emerged victorious in the full-camp games of gaga that we played! We all had a great time soaking up the sun out on the open water during kayaking, and loved following our kayaking guide, Howie! Next weeks should be even better, as we get ready for everyone's favorite week - Color War! GymThis past week, the Lower Camp enjoyed games of freeze tag. They also played with the parachute. We took many trips to the park and enjoyed the nice weather. The Upper Camp played a game of running bases and freeze tag, and they too made many trips to the park. There were also games of kickball and basketball. Art & DramaThis week, in Drama, we started the preparations for our annual drama show. This year, we will be putting on a performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and have been spending a great deal of time rehearsing and building the set for what should be a great performance. We hope that you'll all join us on the last Thursday of camp to see our campers shine in the performance! |

Mensch of the Week - Tori S (N/K)
MENSCH (noun) \ˈmen(t)sh\ a person of integrity and honor | When one of our campers forgot her bathing suit, Tori offered hers to the campers so that she would be able to swim! It was very kind of Tori to make this offer, especially at such a young age! |
